Summer time means summer vacation! Whether you’re hopping on a plane, loading up the RV or just jumping in the car 🚘 – getting away from the every day mundane seems very appealing. I didn’t wait for summer. The girls and I jumped in the car and hit the road in May…and let’s just say – I have notes!
First – what in the construction zone hell, Batman?! I get that road work needs to take place in the warmer months but 21 straight miles of uneven, grated roads? I think some teeth came loose! And – a sign that literally says “Water on road when raining”?!?!☔️ Seriously?!?! Who needs to be told that there is water on the road when it rains?! You should not be driving if basic weather elements confuse you!
And the images used on signs…. The “uneven road” along with ”grooved pavement” sign, depicting a side view of a person on a motorcycle? 🏍️ I refer to that sign as “Evel Knievel” as I’m sure the state is insinuating that he’s the only one that can maneuver the crater-size holes in the road that aren’t grooved!
Now, once you’ve maneuvered the construction zone hell that has done quite the number on your bladder, you find what some Americans claim to be the holy grail of travel centers…enter Buc-ee’s! I had my first experience with Buc-ee’s and…….although I appreciate the very clean restrooms, I’m not a fan. The line to get chicken fingers and fries was longer than the restroom line. And – I guess they think there’s a dire need for the Buc-ee’s tankini! You decide – see below. 👀⬇️
Lastly, truck drivers combined with road rage of some people on the road is a very scary combination. There were many instances where truck drivers were driving in the wrong lanes (not allowed in the far left lane but there anyway) that caused very erratic driving from those in cars/trucks. My suggestion – play Super Mario Kart or the Fast and Furious video game BEFORE hitting the road this holiday weekend! As for this girl – my Princess Peach butt is well versed and ready to roll!
