The Cherry Blossoms Did Not Disappoint

I just returned from my trip to Washington DC after getting to see my two besties and finally get down to the title basin to take part in the Cherry Blossom Festival. I was able to see the blossoms in “peak bloom” and they did not disappoint.

I was watching the local news and the area expected 1 million visitors over the week-long festival. I was there on a Saturday and I’m pretty sure 900 thousand of those expected were there! Along with the blossoms, people were also flying kites on the mall. I’ve never seen so many kites in one place. The backdrop for pictures was amazing!

There were so many people trying to get the best pic for their social media accounts with the cherry blossoms 🌸! The poses were hilarious. I was just waiting for someone to fall into the water. I didn’t see it happen but I’m sure at some point it did. There were just too many people pushing their way through anything and everything to get to the “perfect” spot.

I’ve always wanted to see the cherry blossoms and all of the memorials in DC. I can now cross that off my bucket list. Regardless of your political views, the memorials are very moving and I would highly recommend. From the Lincoln Memorial to the Korean War Memorial and Vietnam Wall Memorial (and then some) – a must see for everyone. It will awaken a profound pride and patriotism that you never knew you had.

Until next time…xoxo

Tracy
