Well, I had to throw my roses away today. They lasted quite a while and they smelled so good! But – I didn’t really celebrate Valentine’s Day this year; not in the way a lot of people celebrate it. I was too busy celebrating Galentine’s Day with a super-fast trip to Las Vegas to see Janet Jackson with some girlfriends. Janet did not disappoint!

There were 7 of us on this extremely short (we’re talking a total of 30 hours total) trip. We left on the Wednesday before Valentine’s Day. There was a ton of snow falling and everyone was told to stay off the roads if they could. Well – we were not staying off the roads…our flight left at 11:00 am and we wanted to make sure we got to the airport in plenty of time….so, we started our drive at 7:00am. We all made it in plenty of time, was able to have a drink before boarding and our flight departed as scheduled.
One of the individuals that traveled was my favoritist friend from high school. We’ve known each other since freshman year. She actually planned the trip as Janet is one of her all time favorite artists. There were two to a room and the friend that planned this trip told me she was going to stay with anyone that let her – well, we had so many sleepovers in high school that I said she could bunk with me. It’d be just like old times. I am 5’10” and she is maybe 5’1”…. I needed you to know that so you will understand the photo she sent me when I told her she could bunk with me…..(see below).

Once we made it to Vegas we loaded up in our stretch Hummer and headed to the hotel. Again, it was a very fast trip so once we got to the hotel, we ate, had a few drinks and those that wanted to, gambled. Eventually we were all ready for our trip’s main purpose: Janet Jackson!

At 58 years old – she was phenomenal! She danced and sang for 2+ hours straight. We were all singing and dancing along, having a great time! I absolutely loved the show but $70 for a long-sleeve t shirt? No, thank you. I have the photos on my phone as memories.

I can say that the three women in my room maybe got less than 2 hours of sleep. Very little sleep but a ton of fun and even more laughs! We returned home the next day – Galantine’s Day. Very fitting day for such a fun trip with friends. The next day was Valentine’s Day and I spent it with my favorite people in the widest world…my daughters.
So, regardless of how you spent Pal-, Gal-, or Valentine’s Day, I hope you felt love in some form.
Until next time…xoxo
Tracy
