Some, not all, little girls dream about becoming a princess, twirling around in their pretty, Halloween Disney Princess costume that they wear throughout the entire year. If it’s not the Halloween costume, it’s a beautiful nightgown that they wear holes in and have their mothers or grandmothers stitch until there’s nothing left of the fabric to stitch. The Disney Princess….my oldest daughter always wanted to be Sleeping Beauty. My youngest – no princess at all (that’s why I stated that not all girls dream of being a princess). She wanted to be a pirate! Not even kidding. We were at Disney World for her 10th birthday and everyone kept saying, “Happy Birthday, Princess!” Her response, “I’m not a princess! I’m a pirate!” As you get older, and the Disney Princess, or pirate dream goes away – what’s left to take its place? I’ll tell ya! It’s the freaking Hallmark Channel!!!!

You all know I’m right. After we’ve grown up and realized the Disney Princess dream was just that – a dream, Hallmark comes in to show grown adults what DREAM relationships look like, right? Don’t get me wrong, I love a good Hallmark Christmas movie, and I was born in the town where Hallmark is headquartered BUT all, and I repeat, ALL of their movies end the same…couple ends up together and everyone is happy. So, the adult version of a Disney Princess movie. Heck – there are even a ton of Hallmark movies regarding royalty. My youngest daughter and I like to ad-lib the ending just to make it interesting. We give the story a whole new spin! What if the couple didn’t end up together and the woman went off on her own to become a successful writer/blogger that doesn’t need to settle down in a small town with her husband, huh? Where’s that story? Oh wait – we can all watch it unfold here on my blog! But first, excuse me while I go draw my sword and battle my 23-year old pirate! Yo-Ho, Yo-Ho!

Until next time….xoxo
Tracy
