Flowers, flowers, flowers! How I love flowers! The colors, the fragrance…I love them! BUT…duh, duh, duh…I don’t like the weight of the meaning some people put behind flowers. For instance – if someone was to give you a rose; one, white rose. Would you be upset because you didn’t receive a dozen, red ones? Do you stress over flowers on Valentines’s Day, whether you’re receiving or giving them? SIDE BAR – Let me just say, I do not like the pressure of Valentines’s Day at all so I do not like to celebrate anything with anyone on that day, with the exception of my daughters. That’s our day to be with and love each other (and every other day of the year). Flowers, chocolate, dinner, etc….gimme a break! I want my s/o to tell me Happy Love Day on a random Tuesday in September! You shouldn’t need a holiday to tell or show someone that you love them. Just my opinion. OK – let me get off my box of chocolates and resume my story. Flowers…OK, do flowers remind you of something sad – IE – death/funerals? There are so many different ideas of what flowers should mean that I am surprised anyone even gives them anymore! I’m so glad they do though! But you know how I am – I have notes!
First – All flowers are absolutely beautiful to me but they are even better when someone puts the thought behind them as to what your favorite color, flower, etc is. Or – they know you so well that they get you flowers that absolutely represent you. That’s the case with my bestie, Josh! He sends me and my daughters flowers on our birthday and they are so different and reflect our personalities perfectly. I’ll tell you more about Josh in a separate post but he could give lessons on flower giving!

Second – Receiving a surprise bouquet of flowers is wonderful but do you want to remain anonymous forever? To that – my answer is, YES, some people do. I received 2 dozen roses, delivered to my door, with a hand-written card. There was no signature and to this day I do not know who sent them. I respect the persons wish to stay anonymous but I wish I could say Thank You!

Third – Do you send a huge bouquet of flowers to someone you’ve only had a conversation with over the phone through work? The answer to this is Yes again! I literally met a man on the phone while conducting business. I think we spoke for 3+ hours. We became friends and had each other laughing daily. One day I opened my front door to the biggest bouquet of roses I’ve ever received. They were absolutely gorgeous! They came in a huge bucket as they were too big for a normal flower vase! Craziness!

Giving, receiving, planting – doesn’t matter. I love all flowers. I don’t have to receive flowers from someone to have them either. I’ll go purchase a bouquet of mixed flowers to make a room pretty and smell amazing! My point in all of this – putting too much meaning behind something may rob you of the beauty or intention. Just sit back, relax, breathe in…and smell the flowers. If you have allergies – keep the tissues and benadryl close by!
Until next time…xoxo,
Tracy
