The Paris Olympics are in full swing and I am here for it! Yes, I watched the entire opening ceremony and no, I was not offended. I love art – all art! And if it gets people talking, that’s all the better! I loved their take on the Olympic “flame” being a hot air ballon but my favorite part by far was Celine Dion. She was absolutely incredible! Now, on to two + weeks of competition with amazing athletes and commentary that is a mix of facts, opinion, ridiculousness and humor! I don’t know who decided Snoop Dogg would represent the USA as the mascot – but it has proven to be a game changer as he is a phenomenal hype man! And, I would love to be along side him as he participates in some of the sports to see just how difficult it is. I could do it – I just have some notes…

Men’s/Women’s Basketball – I am NOT playing any amount of time on that court with anyone! Did you see KD in the first game against Serbia?! 8 for 8 with 5, 3-pointers! Uhmmmm, NO! I couldn’t play HORSE either as I wouldn’t be out there for more than 30 seconds. I think to get my full 3 minutes I’d need a word like: supercalifragilisticexpialidocios!!! 2 minutes in I’d be asking, “Are we on X or P”?
Rugby – Why do these people not have ANY protection on except mouth guards! And, when they go to sit down it looks like they’re about to get on “Soarin” at Disneyland. Regardless of protection, if they’re getting on Soarin, I’m playing rugby!
Gymnastics – I don’t meet the height requirements at 5’11”. Those gymnasts are phenomenal, and I mean absolutely NO disrespect. I mean, come on – All hail Simone Biles – but every time they show their stats on the TV and the height comes up, I find myself singing, “We wish to welcome you to munchkin land,” and wanting to hand them a lollipop! And – what about those leotards? Swarovski crystals?!?! Yes, please!!!

Synchronized Swimming – Otherwise known as “Artistic” swimming…AKA…watch Tracy flop around in the water while she tries to look amazing, knowing her non-water-proof mascara is making her look like Alice Cooper! I don’t know though…I’ve been going to the neighborhood pool every night and my skills are getting crazy-good! Look out LA 2028!
Regardless of the sport, I love the Olympics and everything it represents: teamwork, dedication, perseverance, dreams, goals. A place where individuals come together from all over the world to compete but to also build bridges. And – if it happens to make someone think of Disneyland or the Wizard of Oz…you done good!
If you’ve read any of my posts under the “Picker” category, we all know what I’d get a gold medal in every single time!

Until next time…xoxo
Tracy
