EPCOT Food & Wine – We came. We drank. We were sautéed.

My nephew came up for Labor Day weekend with one goal:

Disney.

Naturally, my girls and I understood the assignment.

Saturday was Hollywood Studios followed by EPCOT because clearly 🙄 we are still under the impression that we are young, athletic people whose feet do not have feelings.

We are not.

But there was the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival waiting for us, and we had priorities.

First: fried pickles.

Because nothing says international culinary exploration quite like starting with something battered and fried.

Then came the drinks.

Multiple drinks.

Responsibly, of course. We had water bottles.

See? Hydration.

My absolute favorite was the Three Daughters Brewing Cinnamon Doughnut Hard Cider.

Cinnamon. Doughnut. Hard. Cider.

Those are four words that have absolutely no business working that well together.

My nephew’s winner was the Playalinda Brewing Co. Pumpkin Cheesecake Blonde Stout.

Pumpkin cheesecake in beer form?

Sure.

At this point, we’d already abandoned normal decision-making.

And then I got the Frozen Pomegranate & Raspberry Tea, which came in the cutest little cup and honestly, I don’t even care what anyone says—I loved the cup.

Did I need it?

No.

Did I want it?

Obviously.

But let’s discuss the weather.

Because Florida had decided Labor Day weekend needed a biblical component.

When it wasn’t raining cats and dogs—and possibly a few donkeys—I am fairly certain Satan himself was standing over EPCOT with a magnifying glass.

It. Was. HOT.

Not regular Disney hot.

Not “Oh gosh, it’s humid today” hot.

I mean my internal organs are being sautéed and I may never know a comfortable body temperature again hot.

We had water bottles.

We drank water.

We sought shade.

We did all the responsible Disney survival things.

Didn’t matter.

My insides were fried.

I’ve done Disney in the Florida heat before, and I don’t remember ever being THAT hot.

Then there were the lines.

Long.

The feet?

Done.

My tootsies had submitted their resignation somewhere around World Showcase.

And yet…

We had FUN.

We ate ridiculous things.

We tried ridiculous drinks.

We laughed.

We sweated through clothing we had once considered dry.

We survived whatever weather experiment Florida was conducting.

And now my nephew is coming back in October so we can finish the Food & Wine Festival strong.

Because apparently after being slow-roasted through EPCOT like a rotisserie chicken, our collective response was:

“We should do this again.”

And honestly?

That’s Disney. 😂

Until next time…xoxo

Tracy
