I Yodeled My Way Into an Engagement (FP 2015)

Okay, apparently my Fighter Pilot Dude saga has been told a little like a roller coaster with missing rails.

We’re moving. We’re screaming. Someone’s lost a shoe. And suddenly we’re three years ahead with absolutely no explanation.

So let’s return to our regularly scheduled programming…

At this point, FP Dude and I were back together.

He was in Nevada, doing his TOPGUN fighter-pilot thing, and I was still living in Florida.

Long distance.

Again.

And things were going…well, exactly as you’d expect.

There was still plenty of arguing. Jealousy. Ridiculousness.

Apparently, I couldn’t just go out to dinner with friends without it becoming a congressional inquiry.

Who was there?

Who did I talk to?

Were there MEN there?

Did one of them breathe in my general direction?

Meanwhile, he was going out with his fighter-pilot coworkers.

But that was different.

Obviously.

Because…fighter pilots?

I don’t know. I never received the handbook.

There were accusations. Arguments. Blood samples. (Not really blood samples).

But for now…

I went to Nevada to visit him because he invited me to a TOPGUN Dining Out being held at Lake Tahoe.

For my civilian friends, think military ball-ish: fancy clothes, dinner, drinks, traditions, speeches and a room full of people who clean up suspiciously well considering what they normally look like at work.

We were on our way to the hotel where we’d get ready for the Dining Out.

I had packed the perfect dress.

Was I wearing it?

No.

I was wearing jeans, flats and a short-sleeved shirt.

You know.

Traditional Lake Tahoe winter hiking attire.

On the way to the hotel, FP Dude suddenly pulled over at a scenic lookout.

Cute!

Except the “lookout” required WALKING to it.

Through snow.

Sir.

I have on FLATS.

I don’t have a heavy coat.

My arms are completely exposed.

Nothing about my current ensemble says, “Sure, let’s hike through the Sierra Nevadas.”

But off we went.

Me, trudging through the snow dressed like I was headed to Target in Florida, because apparently romance requires a complete disregard for appropriate footwear.

Eventually, we reached the lookout.

And it was gorgeous.

Mountains. Snow. Lake Tahoe.

Absolutely breathtaking.

And the acoustics?

FANTASTIC.

So naturally…

I started yodeling.

Because if you take me into the mountains and give me an echo, I’m going to test the equipment.

I’m yodeling.

I’m laughing.

I turn around…

And FP Dude is on one knee.

Holding a ring.

A gorgeous ring.

And my brain basically went:

WHAT IN THE ACTUAL F* IS HAPPENING?!**

Apparently I had just yodeled my way into an engagement.

Until next time…xoxo

Tracy

This is not FP dude. Just someone at the Dining Out. But look at that dress!!!!!
