The Unmanned Flight

So there I was, working my 9-5, at the VA Medical Center just minding my own business. If any of you have ever worked in a government building, where the walls are all a particular color (boring) and the photos on the wall come from stock that the interior designers get to choose from…you know how drab and dull it can be to walk around a building. You get used to seeing all of the same pictures regardless of what building or state you’re in. Three different government agencies can have the same photos. Well – imagine my surprise when I walk out of my office and just happen to look at the photo on the wall and stop dead in my tracks. This is the photo I see…

I was stationed with these ladies!

Now, I was in the 19th Fighter Squadron and while I was there, three of the women above were stationed and in the same squadron with me. I brought my coworkers out into the hall to look at the picture. They clearly didn’t want to look as they said they had seen the photo a million times. I asked them to come out again because I had to show them something. I told them to look at the woman on the far left. They looked and then looked at me as if I was crazy. I’m pretty goofy most days so I understand their look of craziness towards me. But then I take out my cell phone and I show them this photo….

Gunna and me!

It’s me with “Gunna”! That’s right! I’m famous!!!! Well, not really but we all thought it was pretty cool that I flew with her in the trainer tub of a F-15C fighter jet and I have the photos! We were considered to be the “Unmanned Flight” by the squadron commander. This was when we were deployed to Okinawa, Japan. It was a great time and I have wonderful memories of that squadron and Gunna. Now – my next steps – I’m enlarging my photo with Gunna and putting it right next to the one outside my office (and putting an arrow on the original photo pointing to mine) OR I’m just going to put my photo in the frame with all four women…What do you think?!?!? Either way, I’m putting my photo somewhere in that hallway and changing that ONE photo so no other government agency has the same one! I’ll take a photo and post my update when I figure it out or you all help me with the decision!

Until next time….xoxo,

Tracy
