Retiring from the US Air Force and Disability

I retired from the Air Force in September of 2012 with more than 20 years of service. Before my retirement, just like every other service member, I had to go through a physical. It’s very short and not at all thorough. However, when you file your VA disability paperwork, the representative goes through your entire medical file and lists everything they can find from head to toe! You then get sent to multiple medical appointments and the VA powers that be will send you a VA disability notification in the mail. I was initially given a 50% disability rating. Over the past 12 years, things have changed drastically and I am now at 100%. It was not without a lot of medical appointments, paperwork filing, etc., but I am very grateful for my medical doctors at the VA! They have been amazing!!! If any of you have questions that I may be able to help with, I am more than willing to answer – just send them my way!
